Latino Victory Project Executive Director Mayra Macías issued the following statement:
“Today’s vote to impeach President Trump is a testament that in America, no one is above the law, including the president of the United States. We commend House Democrats for their arduous and solemn work to protect and defend the United States Constitution from all foreign and domestic enemies. From day one, Democrats have put the interests of hardworking families front and center, passing critical legislation to address the nation’s most pressing issues, like reducing health care and prescription drug prices, protecting DREAMers and vulnerable immigrant communities and increasing wages and creating jobs. Latinos across the country are better off today because of Democrats’ leadership.”
Macías continued: “The American people are sick and tired of the partisan politics that Republicans have emboldened in recent years, and they will remember those who stood up to protect the rule of law and those who chose to enable the culture of corruption that festers in Washington, D.C. Make no mistake: Republicans will be held accountable for turning their backs on the United States Constitution and the hard-working Americans that sent them to Congress to work for the betterment of our nation.”
