WASHINGTON – Today, Latino Victory Fund congratulates Mayor Regina Romero for her victory in the Tucson mayoral primary race. Mayor Romero will advance to the general election and continue her fight for a second term serving as the first woman and as the first Latina mayor of Tucson.
Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Sindy Benavides released the following statement:
“Latino Victory Fund is proud to congratulate Regina Romero on her well-earned victory in the primary for Mayor of Tucson. After spending over a decade as a member of Tucson’s city council, Mayor Romero has used her first term as mayor to address the issues most important to her community by standing up for small businesses, working families, and striving to create a climate-resilient Tucson. Mayor Romero is a champion for her constituents, playing a leading role in creating the Transform Tucson Fund and AVANZA Revolving Loan Fund for under-represented minorities. Mayor Romero is also the Chair of the Latino Alliance of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Co-Chair of Mayors Against Illegal Guns as well as an Inaugural Member of the Mayor’s Alliance to End Childhood Hunger.
