Statement from Nathalie Rayes, Latino Victory Fund President & CEO:

“Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is an experienced leader and powerful voice in the Senate who has fought for Nevada’s working families since day one. She understands the needs of her community and has worked to strengthen Nevada’s economy and increase job opportunities, help Nevadans recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, and combat climate change. As the only Latina in the U.S. Senate, she brings a unique perspective and a wealth of knowledge and experience to Congress.  Latino Victory is ready to work to ensure Nevadans, especially its powerhouse Latino electorate, continue to support Senator Cortez Masto and ensure she returns to Washington, D.C.”

Latino Victory was the first national Latino organization to endorse Cortez Masto in her re-election campaign as part of its “Our Champions” incumbent protection program. The organization first endorsed Senator Cortez Masto in 2016 when she became the first Latina elected to the U.S. Senate.

About Senator Catherine Cortez Masto

In her first term in the U.S. Senate, Cortez Masto quickly rose in the ranks on the Democratic bench through her effective legislative efforts for her Nevada constituents and her efforts to win the Democratic Senate majority as the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chair in the 2020 election.

Before being elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2016, Cortez Masto served two terms as Nevada’s attorney general. She became well known for her integrity and leadership on behalf of Nevada families, women, and seniors. Cortez Masto created a senior protection unit in the Attorney General’s office to ensure that her investigators and prosecutors had the necessary tools to pursue those who abuse, neglect, or exploit seniors in our communities.

Before serving as attorney general, Cortez Masto worked as an assistant county manager for Clark County, Nevada. She also served as a federal criminal prosecutor for the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., and was chief of staff to Governor Bob Miller. She currently resides in Las Vegas with her husband, Paul.
