Washington, D.C.– Today, Latino Victory Fund announced the endorsement of Asst. Speaker Ben Ray Luján for the United States Senate. The organization previously ran a draft campaign titled Run, Ben Ray, Run! to recruit Luján to run for the U.S. Senate for New Mexico.
Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Mayra Macías issued the following statement:
“Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján has represented the people of New Mexico’s 3rd Congressional District with the utmost compassion. Luján always worked to find common-sense solutions to some of the most complex issues impacting our country as a member of the House. He did so, always putting people first. Whether it was fighting to lower health care costs and prescription drug prices, standing up to this administration’s attacks on public lands, or being a voice of conscience when children were being locked in cages, Luján has remained a consistent champion for New Mexican and Hispanic families across the country.”
Macías added: “In the 2018 midterm election, Luján was responsible for delivering the majority to Democrats in the House of Representatives as the Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which elected a record number of Latinos to Congress. We are beaming with pride to endorse Ben Ray Luján for the United States Senate.
