Latino Victory Fund Endorses Brian Colón for New Mexico Attorney General

Washington, D.C. – Today, Latino Victory Fund announced the endorsement of Brian Colón for New Mexico attorney general. Nathalie Rayes, president and CEO of Latino Victory Fund, released the following statement:

“Statewide offices are vital to creating a government that reflects its population. It’s important for Latinos to have a voice in their state governments, especially in New Mexico, the state with the largest Latino population share in the nation,” said Rayes. “Brian’s an experienced public servant who served his community as an attorney and has won the support of New Mexicans at the ballot box, having won two statewide primaries and one general election. His priorities are all about protecting the people of New Mexico by working to protect the most vulnerable communities, hold corporations accountable and reduce crime. We are proud to support Brian Colón to be the next attorney general of New Mexico.”

Meet Brian Colón

Colón was raised in Los Lunas, Bosque Farms, and Albuquerque. Colón lost his father as a teenager and became the support system for his family, all while being the first to attend college and law school.

This life experience has driven him to dedicate his life to helping cultural and community-focused nonprofits raise money and assist hundreds of New Mexico youth in finding the right jobs and careers for their futures.

Colón has been named Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year by the State Bar of New Mexico, served on the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association’s Board of Directors since 2001, and was twice appointed by the New Mexico Supreme Court as a commissioner for the Judicial Selection Commission.

He also served as the chairman of the Democratic Party of New Mexico and won two decisive statewide Democratic primaries and a general election for state auditor.
