Latino Victory Fund Endorses Candi CdeBaca for Denver City Council District 9

WASHINGTON – Today, Latino Victory Fund announced the endorsement of Candi CdeBaca for Denver City Council, District 9 reelection.

Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Sindy Benavides released the following statement:

“Latino Victory Fund is proud to endorse Candi CdeBaca for reelection of District 9 on Denver’s City Council. In 2019, after defeating an eight-year incumbent, CdeBaca became Denver’s first queer Latina elected councilwoman. Shortly after being sworn in, CdeBaca stood up to the status quo and questioned the renewal of government contracts allotted to the GEO group – which operated a for-profit immigration facility in Aurora. Council member CdeBaca’s dissent provoked a public hearing and eventually a vote not to renew Denver’s contracts with the GEO group. CdeBaca has demonstrated her willingness to lead in the face of injustice, and her reelection campaign continues this lifelong commitment. CdeBaca, yet again, is centering the voices of the community by addressing housing justice, health, and creating a government that works for the people. We are honored to stand by Council member CdeBaca in her reelection to Denver’s City Council.”
