WASHINGTON – Today, the Latino Victory Fund endorsed George Martinez for the Anchorage Assembly, District 5, Seat I, making history as our first-ever candidate endorsement in Alaska. If elected, he would be the first Afro-Latino elected to the Anchorage Assembly.
Nathalie Rayes, Latino Victory Fund president and CEO, released the following statement:
“Latino Victory Fund is excited to support George Martinez in his bid for the Anchorage Assembly, District 5, Seat I. Our first candidate endorsement in Alaska, George is a trailblazer proudly standing up for communities in East Anchorage. He is the right person for the job with a record spanning public service, non-profit leadership, entrepreneurship, and diplomacy. As a plaintiff against the illegal redistricting of East Anchorage with Eagle River, he fought for fair political representation in the Alaska Senate. As a candidate, George Martinez is proposing practical solutions for all of East Anchorage—running on a platform of investing in public safety, improving infrastructure, and building a strong economy for working families. We are proud to stand alongside George Martinez as he works to keep Anchorage a place where all communities can thrive.”
