Latino Victory Fund Endorses Joe Vogel for Congress in Historic Race for Maryland and Latino Community

If elected, Vogel would make history by becoming the first openly LGBTQ and Latino elected to represent Maryland in Congress.

Washington, D.C.–Today, Latino Victory Fund’s President & CEO Sindy M. Benavides announced the organization’s endorsement of Joe Vogel for Congress during a Vogel campaign community event at La Casita Pupusería & Cocina in Gaithersburg.

Benavides joined CHC BOLD PAC Chairwoman Linda Sanchez, D-CA, at Vogel’s event held to discuss his vision for Maryland’s Latino community and beyond, with a focus on his policy agenda called “Plan Para El Futuro De Nuestra Comunidad.”

“Joe Vogel’s credentials are formidable, combining legislative and leadership experience with the novel outlook that only a Gen Z, LGBTQ Latino can bring to Congress,” Benavides said. Our country needs more members like Joe in Congress, leaders who are unapologetic about fighting for the real issues, and progressive policies that strengthen and uplift the Latino community. Joe will be ready on day one—he’s a candidate with a vision and a plan that will strengthen economic growth, expand healthcare access, and support DACA recipients.

Benavides added, “Latino Victory Fund is proud to support Joe Vogel for Congress in this historic race—and is beyond excited to see him become the first Latino openly LGBTQ represent Maryland in Congress.”

Joe Vogel was born in Uruguay and his family moved to Maryland when he was three years old. He is a Gen Z progressive community leader elected to serve as a state delegate in the Maryland General Assembly. Now, Vogel is running to represent Maryland’s 6th Congressional District in a race that could garner a historic win for LGBTQ and Latino representation if he is elected.
