Latino Victory Fund Endorses Maria Quiñones Sánchez for Philadelphia Mayor

WASHINGTON – Today at a press conference in Philadelphia, Latino Victory Fund endorsed Councilwoman Maria Quiñones Sánchez for Philadelphia mayor. After serving as a veteran activist for more than 30 years and as a councilwoman for over a decade, Quiñones Sánchez’s campaign is historic. If elected, she would be the first woman and Latina ever to serve as mayor of Philadelphia.

Latino Victory Fund Executive Director Sindy Benavides released the following statement:

“Latino Victory Fund is proud to stand with Councilwoman Maria Quiñones Sánchez on her campaign for mayor of Philadelphia. As a longtime representative for North Philadelphia and the first woman born in Puerto Rico to be elected to City Council, she brings over 30 years of service to the city. She has a proven track record as an effective lawmaker, with over 431 bills sponsored in the city council, including the 2019 Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. She understands the importance of empowering her community, serving as Executive Director of ASPIRA, Pennsylvania’s largest educational Latino institution. She will lead Philadelphia forward with her plan to alleviate poverty, provide quality education for all, and reimagine the role of government through her Public Safety Plan. Latino Victory Fund is excited to support Councilwoman Quiñones Sanchez in her campaign to be the first Latina mayor of Philadelphia in the city’s 340-year history.”
