Latino Victory Fund Lauds Passage of TPS for Venezuela Act in the House, Urges the Senate to Vote

Washington, D.C. Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved H.R. 549, the Temporary Protected Status for Venezuela Act, a measure that will provide relief for at least 200,000 Venezuelans who are currently living in the United States. Latino Victory  Fund Vice President Mayra Macías issued the following statement in response:

“Let’s be abundantly clear that this vote to extend TPS for Venezuelans wouldn’t have happened if Democrats hadn’t won back control of the House. House Democrats, especially Congressman Darren Soto and Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, have been staunch advocates for Florida immigrant families and the thousands of displaced Venezuelans who reside in the state. The ball is now in Leader Mitch McConnell and Senator Rick Scott’s court. Every day that they fail to introduce this bill in the Senate is a day Venezuelans are at risk of being deported back to the Maduro regime.”
