On National Voter Registration Day, Latino Victory Project Executive Director Mayra Macías issued the following statement:
“This National Voter Registration Day serves as a reminder of what’s at stake when Republicans try to silence our community by making it harder for Latinos to register to vote. They will stop at nothing to deny us our Constitutional right that gives us a voice in our American democracy. Republicans will continue to use dirty tactics like purging thousands from voter rolls or shutting down the online voter registration website on National Voter Registration Day to rig the system in their favor. They know that when Latinos vote, they lose.
Macías added: “With Latinos becoming the largest non-white voting bloc in the nation this election cycle, Democrats and progressive allies must not concede one inch. We must continue to work tirelessly to expand our Democratic electorate by registering eligible Latinos to vote. That’s the only way we defeat Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans who are constantly dehumanizing our community.”
