Washington, D.C. – Nathalie Rayes, president and CEO of Latino Victory Project issued a statement on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade:
“The urgency of restoring and protecting abortion access grows each day we live without the protection of Roe v. Wade, especially for Latinas and other women of color who are among the most impacted by lack of access to abortion and reproductive health care. Each day without federal protection of abortion access, women’s futures, health and lives are under threat. It’s clear that the so-called “pro-life” movement is not pro-life, but an assault on women’s autonomy, and a blatant attempt to eviscerate women’s economic opportunities and condemn them to a life of poverty. The Latino community recognizes just how critical abortion access and reproductive care are for Latinas—with 82 percent of Latino voters supporting reproductive freedom.”
“On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we reiterate our full support for our partners, allies and providers in the reproductive rights movement who are fighting for abortion rights and reproductive care access. Now, more than ever, we need to proclaim that abortion rights are a human right.”
