WASHINGTON – Today, Latino Victory Fund, the most influential national organization helping to build political power within the Latino community at every level of government, released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to expel U.S. Rep. George Santos:
“As a Long Island resident, I am relieved that today marks the end of a sad chapter in our democracy where lies, deception, and unethical conduct robbed hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers of honest representation. Congressman Santos’ dishonesty also robbed Latino communities of what should have been their seat at the table and what could have been an important voice for Latino causes,” said Katharine Pichardo-Erskine, Executive Director of Latino Victory.
“As we turn the page on this short – but sad – era, the Democratic Party must select a nominee who will champion our diverse communities. The Latino Victory Fund and our progressive allies are ready, willing, and able to do our part to win back this congressional seat, defeat MAGA extremists, and help to restore the public’s faith in the democratic process.”
