Washington, DC. – Latino Victory Fund congratulates Senator Raphael Warnock for winning the Georgia runoff for the U.S. Senate race.
Statement from Nathalie Rayes, Latino Victory Fund president and CEO:
“We congratulate Senator Warnock for being re-elected to the U. S. Senate. Senator Warnock’s hard-fought win sends a message from voters that they want Democrats to have a strong majority in the Senate to continue working and delivering for hard-working families. Reverend Warnock has been a powerful advocate for policies that benefit the Latino community, which is why Latino voters turned out to support him. Since day one, he has fought for affordable health care, to create a strong economy and boost job creation, and protect civil rights that are under threat, including abortion rights and voting rights.
“Latino Victory is proud to have worked with our partners in Georgia to ensure Latinos turned out to vote. Thanks to the coalition of Black and Latino voters who turned out for Senator Warnock, Georgia’s Latino community will have one more powerful Democratic advocate for Latinos in the U.S. Senate.”
Latino Victory Fund launched a five-figure digital ad campaign supporting Senator Raphael Warnock’s re-election in the Georgia runoff. The ad featured Lin-Manuel Miranda, and it was part of Latino Victory’s efforts to mobilize Georgia’s Latino voters in support of Senator Warnock.
Latino Victory Fund also joined Poder Latinx in hosting ‘Latinas to the Polls,’ an event to empower Latinas ahead of runoff elections to find their voice in their vote as well as supporting on-the-ground direct voter contact.
Georgia has been a priority state for Latino Victory Fund since 2017, when the organization launched its Georgia chapter. For years, the organization has endorsed Latino candidates in Georgia to help grow Latino representation in the state and has launched efforts to mobilize Latino voters for Democrats in top-of-ticket races.
Along with Georgia’s Latino leaders, grassroots organizers, and Democratic candidates, Latino Victory recognized the potential of the state’s growing Latino population and its ability to help sway elections, including the 2020 presidential and Senate special elections. In 2018, Latino Victory Fund launched the ¡Vamos, Georgia! Bus Tour to mobilize Latino voters for Stacy Abrams and other down-ballot Democratic candidates.
