Washington, D.C. — With the October 4, 2014 deadline to register to vote, Latino Victory Project President Cristóbal Alex today urged Latinos across Nevada to make their voices are heard on Election Day.
“Increasing Latino representation in elected office and at the ballot box is crucial to elevating the issues that are important to our community. But there is no question our participation does not reflect the strength of Latinos in Nevada, “said Alex. “Registering to vote is the first step in ensuring that the Latino community can affect change throughout Nevada and the country.”
A 2012 Pew report notes that there are 268,000 Hispanic eligible voters in Nevada—the thirteenth largest Hispanic eligible voter population in the United States.
According to the Nevada Secretary of State, Nevadans can register to vote online, by mail or in-person. Those with a Nevada driver’s license may register online by completing a voter registration application. Those without a driver’s license can register in-person at a county election or mailing a completed application.
Early voting will take place October 18-31, 2014 for the November 4, 2014 election.
